Cracked heels
A phenomenon many of us suffer from, including some people from the much younger crowd. But, as we grow older, our mature skin loses its elasticity and produces less oil; both of these dry the skin surface and make it more prone to cracking. Though other conditions, like being overweight or absence of regular care, only aggravate the situation. Quick home remedy (this is not a medical advice, but just a tried and tested advice) that be applied before going to bed:
- Soak your feet in hot water – this will cause the dead skin to slough off (using a pumice stone will help remove the dead cells easily) and improve the absorption of your moisturizer
- Massage your heel with a moisturizer – coconut oil is a very effective, cheap and easily available moisturizer to use.
- Wear light cotton socks – this will keep your heel warm and enhance absorption of the moisturizer.
Follow these steps and you will see the cracks fading away within one month. And remember to always drink plenty of water to keep your whole body fully hydrated from within.
